Today, Daddy Edu was still feeling so-so, a bit flu-y, a bit tired, a bit everything. So we started the day the same way as the previous two: cooped up in burrito mode inside the campervan, only venturing out between showers for short walks along the promenade. Nothing heroic, but just enough to stretch our legs and dodge the raindrops.
Later in the afternoon, when the clock was nearing six, Daddy Edu's nomadic soul couldn't take it anymore. He started the engine, we buckled into the routine (me in my travel cage, you know the drill), and we set off north. After so many days in Cramond, it was time for a change of scenery.
In Perth, we made two survival stops: first, to empty the grey water at a car park with a specific disposal point for campervans (all very legal, clean and orderly), and then to restock the pantry at Aldi. There, Daddy Edu bought human food, no dog biscuits, of course. All good.
Next came the classic hunt for a place to sleep. The first one we saw didn't have much charm. The second… well, there were already six campers and it looked more like a gathering of motorhomes than a quiet corner. But the third, bingo!
It was a car park near the Linn of Tummel, a place quite famous among those who like to walk, look at waterfalls and breathe deeply. The place itself, as a parking area, wasn't anything special, but it had that charm of being tucked amongst trees, with a path to the river and a constant murmur of running water. There were already three other campers, but we found a perfect spot for us: right on the edge of the car park, with the best views downwards. A premium spot. We stole a bit of limelight from the neighbours, but hey… this is campervan survival.
Before the light faded, we took a short excursion towards the waterfall. You just had to cross the road and go down a little path that winds between the trees. In a few minutes we were next to the River Tummel, which was flowing strongly and with a fair volume of water. It was a beautiful place, one of those that makes Daddy Edu say "Wow, this is real Scotland!". Temperature test time: Edu put his hand in the water and his reaction was "Uff… freezing". Too cold for today, but who knows… tomorrow maybe a dip.
Tomorrow, if the cold gives us a break and the sky is on our side, we'll head for more adventures. Or at least somewhere with less fever and more sun.
