From the rain to a swim in Lough Key and a cold shower for everyone

Today I'm telling you that our big excursion to the Slieve League cliffs went down the drain before we even got started. It had been raining cats and dogs since the morning and no sign of it letting up. So the plan to walk along the cliffs was buried under an endless downpour. Daddy Edu said goodbye to our neighbors at the port and we set off at half past twelve.

Almost a hundred kilometers by car. Almost two hours of curves, puddles, and windshield wipers that didn't stop dancing. To top it off, we arrived at a parking lot with no charm. Zero. Not even a decent little tree to mark territory. Here we ate and rested while the rain continued to batter the camper's sheet metal. I voted to declare it public enemy number one of the trip.

When we finally set off again, it was a strategic stop: Lidl. You know, the pantry and the fridge were crying from hunger. So was I, but none of mine fell, as always. Bags full, mission accomplished.

Forty minutes later we arrived at Lough Key. Ah, this was something else! The lake looked like something out of a fairytale: big, with little islands scattered as if someone had thrown a handful of stones into the water and they had stayed floating. Some brave humans were swimming as if nothing was happening. And of course, Daddy Edu couldn't be left behind. He jumped into the water. I looked at him from the shore thinking: "He's crazy, he's sure to come out turned into an ice cube". But no, he swam for fifteen minutes like a retired dolphin.

Then he took a cold shower in the parking lot shower. Yes, the kind that make even penguins cry from the cold. And attention, front page news: Uncle Javi also showered with cold water! Even I didn't believe it. That was a miracle worthy of being written in stone.

Little by little, the other cars and people are leaving. The lake is quiet, just for us. And here we are now, alone, listening to the water moving gently against the shore and the wind in the trees. A good end to the day, after so much rain and so many kilometers. Here we stay to sleep, in total peace.
