Day 5:

Cisternino – Brindisi 🇮🇹 – ⛴️

Ostuni overflowing and a very shiny boat

The place where we slept wasn't exactly quiet, there was quite a bit of movement and people coming and going, but in the morning things changed. When the light came up we saw that we were in a pretty good viewpoint, with open views of the land and the sea. Yes, this is more like it. Sleeping badly but waking up with a view makes up for it, it's like when they give you a treat after eating your pet food: it doesn't erase the trauma, but it helps.

We went out by car and went to Ostuni. We parked on the outskirts, without being very clear if it was free because it was Easter or if simply nobody understands the signs of that place anymore. They were so worn that reading them was more chaotic than three dogs chasing the same ball.

Ostuni is one of those towns that you see from afar and you already know it's going to be beautiful. All white, on top, with walls and streets that go up and down. From the outside it looks quiet, but inside... inside there were more people than in a park full of new balls.

We entered the centre and it was overflowing. Much more than yesterday in Polignano a Mare. Narrow streets, souvenir shops, restaurants, people everywhere... moving forward was slow, like when you try to walk among pigeons and none of them want to move. Even so, the place has its charm. The white of the houses, the views, the narrow streets... it's worth it.

We took a good walk without a fixed destination, going up and down, and we arrived at the church of San Francisco de Asís. It was so full for the Easter mass that people were queuing to enter and things were overflowing to the door and the street.

Afterwards we went back to the car and went down to the coast, to Torre Pozzella. It's a natural area with several coves and a stone tower watching over everything. The parking was good and, most importantly, there were no signs prohibiting campers. There were some more, so good atmosphere.

We ate quietly inside and then went for a walk. We walked along the coves, saw the tower up close and were there for a while. A place of those where you would stay longer, but today it was boat again.

After sunset we left for Brindisi and in half an hour we were in the port. Check-in done and then to wait, more or less an hour, until we could enter. Meanwhile, Papi Edu started talking to a Greek who lives in Holland and spoke perfect Dutch. I paid more attention to his two dachshunds. I kept a safe distance, because they were small but they looked like they had more character than size, like the site managers.

We entered the car on the boat, left it in the garage and went up. And this boat... another level. Much more beautiful than the previous one. It's from Minoan Lines, although the ticket was from Grimaldi, human things. The cabin is bigger, the bathroom too and we also have a window. Everything more welcoming and more comfortable.

Of course, there is so much gold that it seems that someone has decorated thinking "more gold, always more gold". A bit like the mansion of an important human that appears on TV. I don't care, as long as there's a bed.

We didn't explore much because we left at eleven and here it's already Greek time, so in reality it was twelve. A mess of hours that not even a clock understands. Tomorrow we have to get up early because we arrive in Igumenitsa at nine.

Here I can also sleep in the cabin and I even have my own bed, as there are two. High level. The only thing we haven't found yet is the dog toilet. I hope it exists, because if not, I'm going to have to get creative... and that never ends well for anyone.
